Kite Festival
Makar Sankranti, the harvest festival is celebrated in almost all parts of India with great pomp. In the southern parts of the country it is called Pongal, in Punjab Lohri & Maghi. In Uttar Pradesh, 'Khichiri'. In Maharashtra on the Sankranti day people exchange multi-colored tilguds made from til (sesame seeds) and sugar and til-laddus made from til and jaggery.
Rajasthan & Gujarati not only look reverentially up to the sun, but also offer thousands of their colorful oblations in the form of beautiful kites all over the skyline. The Festival introduces kite enthusiasts world-wide to the intriguing beauty and cultural diversity of India.
On Saturday, January 10th Harrison;s school organized a kite festival and Harrison had a great time. Faiyaz (our driver) helped with the kite before Harrison took off to play on the playground. It was a great day! His friend, Charudhi and her mom Manju joined us.

Safely back to Hyatt Regency in Katmandu :-) Thankful for a good driver! The Nagel's always have some sort of excitement on our travels!
So many memories were created!
