My Aunt B

My dearest Aunt B met Jesus on Monday, February 5th. My heart still breaks for not having the chance to say goodbye. To have been given the choice to book the flight and be there beside her. I am still mending this heart. She was 90 years old, it was time for her to meet Jesus and to be reunited with her love, Uncle Cal.

During my childhood I spent a couple summers at their home. I remember the first summer I went to stay with them I had my sister Liz join me. I was the girl whom rarely went to sleepovers and was afraid to be so far from home. At the time 3 hours from home felt really far away. We lived in Terre Haute, Indiana and they were in Louisville, Kentucky. Who knew I would marry a Rose graduate software engineer and move to Seattle, Washington right before our second wedding anniversary...AND LOVE IT!

One way for me to process my sadness and disappointment was to gather as many childhood pictures as I could and reread what notes I had saved from Aunt B. My friend Susan ventured with me to our creepy (okay creepy to me) storage unit the following day of Aunt B passing to load up my HUGE Rubbermaid box of photo albums...
Oh the many memories from childhood, high school and college!
After dropping Lewis off at preschool I settled in at a local Christian bookstore and coffee shop. I read each note from 1997-2007 with tears in my eyes and my heart full with her sweet words and reminder of how much I was loved. Here are some of the sweet words:

Remember that we love you very much
You are so very loved
You are very special to us
Time does go fast- that is one reason we can't afford to let any moment go by that we don't enjoy it to its fullest
Every good thought I have of you is a prayer
God will give you the answer that you need and that is right-Trust him

God is so good, always.
