Midweek update

Midweek update...

On Monday morning after dropping Harrison off at school I ventured out to find a coffee shop I saw online, "Coffee World." After 45 minutes of driving and several stops to ask for directions...we found it...but it was gated up and no longer in business- seriously?!?! Ugh! But hey it was an adventure and a story to add to our collection of India adventures!

Tuesday morning Bill, Harrison and I headed to FRRO (Foreign Resident Regristration Office) to update our residency. We were done in 2.5 hours- yeah for not being an all day adventure! Thankfully Harrison was a trooper as we sat and played games together on my iPad. After a tasty lunch at KFC Bill headed to customs (thank God we didn't go with him!!) for a 3 hour process, plus a forty minute drive each way. Bless Bill's heart... needless to say he enjoyed a couple beers with dinner!

While Bill was at customs Harrison and I attended our first birthday party in India at Fun City (an arcade) at Inorbit Mall. Harrison loved eating McDonalds for dinner followed by cake and then of course arcade games!!!

The battle of spoon and toast.. Harrison concentrating so hard...

Our silly boy...

One of the many things Harrison does/says...

"forkie is the best silverware I have ever had" as he is cleaning the silverware at the restaurant with his napkin after lunch today.

The light at the end of the tunnel is near...we think

We were hoping to be able to move into our duplex today (Sunday) however our sea shipment is still at customs...unopened... we hope the new move in date will be Thursday or Friday. In India, rarely ever is anything on time. This is one great lesson on being patient. Therefore we had a quite but very nice weekend.

What I am looking forward to most about moving-

*Sleeping in my own bed

*Making Americano's with the Tony coffee beans we brought

*Being able to walk to the grocery store outside our community gate

*Hosting play dates

*Cooking

Great afternoon playing

Harrison and Ethan always have a great time playing together! Today he actually enjoyed wrestling around with Ethan. Not long ago he wanted nothing to do with wrestling around.

Field trip to the zoo

Harrison has his first field trip on Thursday! He was so excited to ride the school bus to the zoo and his favorite animal was the giraffe. Harrison enjoys playing outside at school and can count to 20. His imagination continues to melt my heart. Yesterday we used the lounge chair on the balcony has the car and had several errands to run (Q Mart, Fred Meyer, and the bank).

He loves to fix things around the hotel!

I am really looking forward to a relaxed weekend!

Ganesh, garden and "adventure"

On Monday morning Harrison and I met friends at the Botanical Gardens for an hour...until it started raining. School was closed for Ganesh Chaturthi festival ("Ganesh is called a God here"- Harrison informed us, a glimspe into what he learned last week at school!!)

Harrison's first clay statue he made at school

The fish tanks inside where empty and we all decided this
must not be the right time of year to visit, but we still had fun!

The bridge was a huge hit! Harrison with Silas, Ethan and Jude

After the garden and lunch, Harrison and I enjoyed an afternoon playing with Ethan at his house while the moms drank coffee and talked.

Today after preschool Harrison and I attempted to go to a friends house. The drive should have taken 30 minutes but after a little over an hour of looking for the apartment (and of course my phone died) I gave up. An uneventful journey but a journey nonetheless!

A great week

Harrison and I have had a great week! Preschool is going very well, he is always smiling and telling me he had a great time when I pick him up. What a huge Blessing! I have greatly enjoyed my alone time while he is at school- coffee shop and reading. I just finish reading Debbie Maccomber's Between Friends, a recommendation from my dearest friend Aliza. The book is about two friends who have written letters to each other, staring at a young age. Aliza and I started writing each other since we were in junior high and continue to do so (well right now emailing is the way to go since I am on the other side of the world). Since junior high we have never lived in the same city and the letters in may ways made us feel close to each other. I will be meeting Aliza in London October 10th-13th!!! This is will our first weekend together without kids and uninterrupted conversation. I am very thankful for Bill taking vacation time off to be with Harrison, I think it will be a great father/son time while Momma is away,

On Monday night I played my first game of Bunco- it was so much fun!!! I am looking forward to next months ladies game night. Tuesday we picked out paint colors for the bedrooms at the duplex. Our room will be a light brown, Harrison's room will be purple (his favorite color!!), Bill's office will be dark green and the guest room a tan shade, I will be sure to post pictures once it is done. We have hired painters...definitely the right choice! I am so ready to be out of the hotel! We are hoping to move in the week of September 23rd...that is if our sea shipement doesn't get held up at customs. Please pray for me, I need patience as I am so tired of being in the hotel.

Wednesday after school we met our friends Stella and Ethan at Inorbit Mall- Chili's for lunch, train ride and some time well spent at the arcade. It was an awesome afternoon!

Thursday after school we rushed back to the hotel so I could surprise Harrison with Mickey Mouse Clubhouse on Disney Junior. Harrison loves Clubhouse but it usually comes on while he is at school but yesterday they were doing a special for Pluto's birthday... Harrison was super excited!!! Later in the afternoon we had a wonderful play date with our friends Laura and Jude! Jude calls Harrison "Karrison" and had been asking about him all morning...so sweet! I have loved getting to know Laura more each week and finding out how many things we have in common. I treasure our weekly play date.

This evening and tomorrow (all day) I will be attending a women's conference, SHINE at Pearl City Church. I have never been to a women's conference before and really looking forward to being connected with other women and great speakers.

Hope everyone has a great weekend and I miss you!

Sea star

As soon as Harrison saw me at preschool pick up he said "see my tattoo!!" And held onto my two fingers, so sweet! Tonight at bath time he said his favorite thing on the school playground was the slide. That is all the info this momma received about today's adventures of school!

First day of school

Harrison had a wonderful first day of nursery school! He enjoyed playing with blocks and green playdoh. After Bill and I walked out of his classroom we heard him say "I stay here all by myself." Melted our heart and we knew we made the right choice on Globe Toters. Harrison will be going to school Monday-Friday 9am-12:30pm.

This morning I told Harrison after school we would go to the mall and buy a balloon. "With a string," why sure Harrison we will buy one with a string.

Yummy lunch at McDonalds...Harrison has his first batman toy...I told him someday he can watch Batman. He loved playing a excitedly said "Batman is one of my favorite McDonalds toy!!!"

Golconda Fort pictures

Golkonda is also know as Golla konda (shepherd's hill) a ruined city south of India and capital of ancient Kingdom of Golkonda (c. 1518-1687).  It is universally famous for the mines that have produced the world's most famous and coveted gems.

My favorite picture of all.
